r/GolfGTI is a place for GTI enthusiasts to discuss and share information related to the best car that can be had for less than $40K. We entertain beauty shots and thrive on discussing mods, whether purely cosmetic, functional, or both. We welcome discussion of all things GTI as well as other VW hot hatchbacks. The newer head unit and digital dash is awesome and just feels like a more modern driving experience. AWD feels a little heavier and less wild than the lighter GTI. TLDR: Mk6 GTI more fun and zippier, Mk7.5 golf r better all around base platform that feels more grown up. Either are great choices. 2021 vs. 2022 Volkswagen Golf R: What's the Difference? The 2022 Volkswagen Golf R is a brand-new model, as it has been on hiatus since the 2019 model year. Following the 2021 model year, Volkswagen discontinued the Golf in the United States, making the redesigned GTI and Golf R the lone VW Golf models available. As for luggage space, VW claims the Golf R’s bay can hold 341 litres, which is slightly less than the GTI’s figure due to the presence of the all-wheel drive system on the rear axle. Compared with other performance hatchbacks, the Volkswagen’s load bay is smaller than those of the BMW M135i xDrive (380 litres) and Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic The GTI TCR stretches 4268mm in length, 1799mm in width and 1467mm in height, and it rides on a 2631mm. In other words, it’s Golf-sized, which means there’s little in the way of practicality sacrifices for the upgraded performance. Up front, the driver and passengers seats are hip-hugging snug, but the cabin feels light and airy, and I’m While the Golf R and Golf GTI share a platform, there are some significant differences between them. The Golf R has standard all-wheel drive, while the Golf GTI is front-drive only. Also, the Golf 19ā€ suites Golf 7 very well. I have 235/35 19ā€ on my R and it’s really looking good! I don’t think there is a big difference in comfort between 18 ā€œ (as on my former GTI 6) and 19ā€. Go for 19 ! /Peter Compared to a standard Golf any GTI is 15 mm lower and any R is 20 mm lower. Fender to wheel center distance: Golf: 380 - 385 mm GTI & GTD: 365 - 370 mm Golf R: 360 - 365 mm The lower value applies to front, the higher to rear. There are tolerances though, depending on equipment, door count and age/mileage. I5kj6s.
